Future

This week I have a holiday! Today I have been in Essex catching up with some amazing people I know. The commitment they have in God and trust is outstanding.
But catching up with them has really opened my eyes and heart for my future.
Currently sitting in tescos cafe reflecting the conversations already had and more to come.
It has been great to catch up with friends and seeing where they are heading and sharing what amazing things have been happening with me and how work is etc.
But during chatting with two brilliant women about a youth weekend I kinda found future plans already! It has really fired me up and it really feels of God.
I don’t want to share it here, just yet, as I need to speak to people and discuss about it and also pray a lot!!! But it feels exciting and tremendous that if it happens it is something I never thought I would I do.

Can I ask for your prayers in this matter and let me know if God is talking to you possibly about this please, please let me know. I believe God speaks to those who are far away as well as close and so please let know. No matter how silly it may feel to you it may be just what I need to hear / know.

Grieving

Just picture for a moment, you are living life and its all going swimmingly. Life is going the way that you want. But then you hit a stone, a stone that never wants to leave you. A stone which somehow follows you around everywhere, you walk/run/swim/cycle away from this stone but seems to just be there everytime.
So you deal with this stone and start to accept it, having to give up various things and getting your mind straight. But at aswell you are having to start to think about life ahead and where you want to go, you decide to do something you never did but find out your good and you head into that career. But remember your coming to terms with this stone, but you feel your doing well with life. Your starting to drift and manage to get everything sorted (as much as you can) then …
BANG
Life hits you!! Your thrown back and land on your back after flying in the air ( you know just like action movies where they fly for meters and end up on their back amazed by what happend). Your confused, confuzzled, amazed, surprised, shocked, horrified, stuck, frozen, and many more.
You don’t know what just happened and why. You ask questions but there’s no answer, you can’t come to terms with it. Then …
BANG
That stone which you thought you were dealing with, smacks you in your face. So you have to deal with life, then the first smack followed by the second all at once. Then …
BANG
Another wallop, life kicks again to make sure your awake…and are you? If so, do you want to be?

Its all very well that you seem fine, that you think you handle life BUT actualy you can’t. So how do are we suppose to? I don’t know!! Grieving is a strange thing, one time your fine then another your a mess and feeling everything and everyone is getting at you, they may be but there is one person who isn’t and is feeling everything you are. But does that help? Does that make you feel more at ease?

Oh my goodness, what a holiday, what a break I have had over the past two weeks. Headed over to Shepton Manor for Soul Survivor week C to advertise Oasis on their stand in the toolshed. Camping with Pembury Baptist Church with 50 young people camping and attending SS, which is amazing. That week was outstanding! I was blown away by God, by God’s power, by God’s spirit! It was great to chat with people about their posible futures and hearing what has put on their hearts for the future. It was a brilliant week to rest, experience and listen to God. It was a really great time to relax with God and hear what he wants to say.

Then headed over to Grantham to see family, friends and to really rest. A chance to physically stop, well that did not happen very much! Having got home at 3am! I had a great day with parents though. It was brilliant to catch up with people in my home church and to quickly catching up with everyone there then headed to visit grandparents. After family visits it was time for friend visits, which meant heading to York for the night to see people up there. Was great time to chill and have a laugh with close old friends!

After the whole family and friend visits it was time for Gorsley Festival. My third year of attending Gorsley Festival and this year was my busiest year! I was co-hosting the welcoming games at every session (2 a-day) then I had two speaking slots during the weekend and then co-hosting late night for the campers with Rachel and Rosie Buttox. But you know I am not complaining about all that (otherwise I would have to move the corck, inside joke!) I am more celebrating about the amount of stuff I could do.

God has been amazing at Gorsley, seeing the youth connect with God, seeing the youth being shocked and horrified by how the church is being persecuted around the world! We were talking about Paul writting to the Phillipi, so basically we were looking at the book of Phillipians. My talking slots were on complaing christians (rain or shine), and trying to encourage the young people to keep going with faith and God. My life it has been outstanding, overwhelmed!

Praise God for what he has done in me and in others over the past couple of weeks and prayers for the year ahead would be appriciated! Prayers for college, work, placements, and life!

When I joined St Andrew’s church in September 2008 as a gap year worker I never thought I would be writing a note to you all in August 2010. I joined the St Andrew’s team as a gap year youth worker with an organisation called Viz-A-Viz Ministries, based in Essex, with plans to head into working in theatre straight after. But how things change.
Having been working at the church for a few months discussions of keeping me were happening within the church, and in September 2009 I stayed with St Andrew’s as their youth worker but also joined Oasis College, in London, on their degree course.
The past year has seen highs and lows of enjoyment and wanting to pack it all in, for those who do not know I had managed to get through school and college without writing an essay! Starting a degree course has shocked the system and it has been difficult to write reflective pieces of my practice, writing 2500 word essays on various topics and sitting in two whole days (9am – 4pm) of lectures a week.
But it is amazing to look back over the past year or two and see what has happened, what has changed, how I have changed as well. Ever since I left college I have followed God’s calling, sometimes with a lot of arguments and discomfort, but it has been amazing to see how my life has changed and the remarkable things which I have done . If I did not follow God’s calling then I do not know where I would be right now, probably still in Grantham doing a job which I would not enjoy.
Have you reflected over the past year or two and seen what God has done for you? Or even to see where you have ignored God, maybe? Trusting in God is a very difficult thing to do, especially when it seems physically/mentally impossible to do, what ever it may be. But following His calling in our lives bring a lot of struggles and fights but when we reflect back we can see the amazing things which had happened.
I never thought, when I was in college, that I would end up working in a church doing youth work and heading into university to do a degree course in Youth Work and Ministry. But following and trusting God has been a struggle but it is amazing to see where I am now and seeing what God has and the anticipation of what is to come in the future.
Look at Moses in the Old Testament, God called him to take the Israelites out of slavery from the Egyptians. But he put up a lot barriers saying he was not a good communicator, he thought the Egyptians were going to kill him and more. But God provided everything Moses needed to take the Israelites out, and on their journey to the promised land showed God’s power and might. Moses never thought it would be possible, but with the correct tools from God and trust in Him, Moses did it!
Final note, amazing things can happen when we trust and obey God’s calling on our lives, so what you waiting for?

Pondering

Sometimes we go through stages in life. We go through our relaxed and enjoyable state, where we love what we are doing. Enjoying the company your with, basically just loving where you are in life.
Then there’s the sad/upset state where maybe something has happened in our life, like a death or failed exams or lost a job.
Then there’s the kinda depressed state. Where your not sure what life is bringing to you, your unsure where your heading, missing alot of people you knew from past projects or from home.

But you know something which I am slowly learning through the hard times is actually no matter which state we are in and mo matter how we are feeling God is there. That’s it our king, ruler of this land, God Almighty is going through the happiness/sadness/depression with us! This God who made us and rules this land is feeling our pain or joy at the same time as we feeling them. God isn’t just our king and ruler he is our friend/saviour/neighbour. He is the most amazing friend we can have on the whole planet because he is going through the pain/joy which we are.

He is there sitting with us when we think there is mo point to this job, he’s there looking through job adverts, he’s there looking and dealing with financial problems.

You know, all we have to do is trust God! Trust our King, Saviour, friend, ruler, neighbour! We knows,unlike us, what is round the corner. He knows when and what our next job will be, our next home, our next situation. Through troubled tones be assured that God is there with you, feeling what you do. Trust him to pull you through it, knowing that he has something brilliant around the corner!

Fly with Him

Walking home from the train station this evening after a day at college I spot this hot air balloon. It’s extremly hire up there on a lovely afternoon, blue sky and not much wind for to push around. It reminded me of God, that actually he’s higher than high. He’s beyond our imagination and is surpreme.

God on mute, written by Pete Greig, talks about and unpacks the whole question of ‘unanswered prayer’. He talks about a situation between his and him and how he was frustrated with God and how it felt that God was ignoring him. His wife, Sammy, was actually at price with God while he was thrustrated with God, and asking why her, why now, why doesn’t he just perform a miracle there and then. God was there with Pete, even when he was frustrated with God even when he was punching the sky. God knew what was ahead, he knew if there was a strong wind coming, he knew if everything was going to be ok, he knew if they were going to stay in the sane position just like this hot balloon I saw today. It didn’t seem to move, even though I was moving.

Then I saw this aeroplane fly towards it and it looked like it was going straight to the hot balloon. Luckily it was higher than what it seemed. Again, sometimes we see things going well and then we see something that is going to ruin that peaceful and settled situation, sometimes it hits, just like 9/11, other times it doesn’t and not even close, hot air balloon.

Why am I rambling on I hear you ask…? Well just to stay that even though sometimes you might go through a really tough time, a really strong storm and other times you may be gliding ahead and be settled in where you are, what your doing. Which ever situation God is still there with you, still loves you, still cares for you. Even though sometimes it feels like you have to do something which seems like it is going to wreck peoples lifes, but trusting it’s right God it will come to good. Trust and be faithful, have full strength in God, carry on looking to him , trust him and live with all your heart, no matter what.

What a long time.

After speaking with Peter at GBC it seems I am not alone with updating my blog with lost of information and then not updating for a long time!

So apoligise for being such a bum in updating you with everything going on, I will try and try being the most important word in this sentence, I will try and update this blog as much as possible.

Easter has been and gone, back into the office sorting things out and trying to move forward with my assignments and college stuff! So not working!!! But we, my supervisor and I, have just bought me a proper office desk, at the moment I have a computer desk which is good but not enough room to write and very cramped. So trying to sort things out for room and moving everything around and throwing quiet alot of stuff, it’s been a good. Apart from being up from 5.30am this morning!

Easter holidays have been so relaxful and enjoyable, a time to catch up with friends and family. But also a chance to reload and refresh spirituatly by going to Spring Harvest for the day. You may say how can I be refreshed after day of SH well it is quiet amazing! So good to spend time with my friends but also worship God and hear more about HIM and there fantastic speakers! But also it has got me reading God on Mute, which has been so inspiring and encouraging about unanswered prayer. If you haven’t read, READ IT!

Anyways I am going to stop talking and will inform you how things go next week and if I finished my Assignment in time!

Thursday after

Well it’s nearly a week on from heading to Ashburnham and my thoughts are still there.
The weekend went really well, it was a struggele to start off with. I didn’t go planned, I knew the outline of the session but hadn’t planned anything around it. I hate working like this but you know it was a good job. The young people, the 4 of them, seemed like they didn’t want to be there and just wanted to chat and laugh between themselves. Friday night was the worst, even though they all joined in our activities discussion wise they just did t care.
But you know God tells us to be faithful and trust in Him. And so Emma, childrens worker I pulled in to help, and I laying in the floor of our venue, projector speakers, cloth with fairy lights, prayer frog, and room to play big games, we collapsed and prayed!
We seemed to of done alot of praying, which is good don’t get mr wrong, and Saturday we saw a massive change! The young people became more open and started asking questions, we started discussion different topics etc.
The weekend became such a God moving time and I pray that the young people really felt encouraged too by the weekend.
I do know the adults who went were moved by the work which both of us had done and in Sunday I was moved by actually what God had done.
Now nearly a week on, I am still pondering and thinking about those young people. I really hope that the church get into gear and show willingness to disciple these young people. I pray that the weekend was the start of something amazing and that the church will reconise and act on the work that has started.
